Wordless Wednesday - Jimmy Buffett Concert

Wordless Wednesday Fred and I went to the Jimmy Buffett concert on Saturday night. We had not planned on doing so, but when we went to the gym on Saturday morning, there was a guy in my cycle class who had tickets that he won and could not use. But... we could! So off we went to enjoy the evening. Here are some photos of our fun time! Ready to Go! A little tail-gating before the concert. What is a tail-gate party without new friends? We enjoyed getting to know our neighbors. Let the show begin. Fun times!

Free As A Bird!

Sunday, March 14 Fred and I were able to get away for an entire afternoon and play with "our new toy". With the worship service over and no children at home we felt free as birds. So we headed to Krum, Texas. This is where we hanger our Piper Cub airplane. Many people (even in Texas) have not heard of Krum, so I included a photo. We stopped for a bite of lunch at the local Mexican restaurant and watched the folks at the church across the street leave their services and walk right across the street for lunch. After our delicious meal, we drove another few miles up the road to the hanger. Yep, this is it. And the runway? There it is... Yes, it is grass! It is not necessary to have pavement to take of and land in a small airplane! Here is my hubby, opening the doors to the hanger, revealing one beautiful yellow wing. This is the traditional color of this particular aircraft. If you want to read more about this wonderful little plane, here is the Wikipedia link. Piper J-3 Cub...

LIZ IS IN LAS VEGAS!

Sometimes, I don't like working. Even though I like my job, there are days that are just not fun. I work in the Health Care Industry and sometimes it is difficult to do what I do... handling physician charges, making sure they get paid, managing a group of people, making sure surgeries are coded correctly, solving problems, and tracking down answers. Some days, I get tired. Some days, my job is great fun! I chat with physicians who are excited about what they are doing. My department gets kudos and they are all happy! I am interested in the operative reports that I read. And every now and then... I get to go places. My job requires that I have regular training to stay certified in my field. Continued Education Units aka CEU's. This next week, I will be at work, getting CEU's in LAS VEGAS! I work with some really fun and smart people. And six of us are going to Las Vegas together. We are leaving two days early to do some fun stuff (company paid)! How fun is that?! Thi...

I think I am sick!

I have a fever! Spring fever. My husband mowed our lawn this week and that was all it took. The low growl of the mower, the dusty, gassy vapors as the machine leveled the grass and weeds to one, uniform length. The fragrance of the dirt, the fresh cut grass and the knowledge that the deep green of St. Augustine is just around the corner. Yesterday morning, I walked onto my porch with coffee in hand, giving thought to the entire Saturday that still lay before me. Then my eyes rolled to the most beautiful sight I have seen all winter! THIS! Bradford Pear in full bloom. My heart sings. I take in deep breaths, allowing the fragrance of spring to infiltrate my entire being. I walked around my yard and saw the sign that I needed! The Peony plants have started to peek out of the dirty, unattended soil. I knew immediately what I must do. Go to the nursery! Not the baby nursery...the plant and landscape nursery! I had already made tentative plans with my friend, Kim. I called her within an...

Lelia and Kelley in Dallas!

So, I was trying to think of what to post about my visit with Lelia and Kelley last Friday. It has been difficult to pick and choose what I wanted to include in my story of meeting both of these ladies who I felt like I know, but I don't really know. My husband likened it to a blind date, like from an internet dating service. :) He makes me laugh! On Friday, I had to work a bit longer than I wanted to, but I did make it to downtown Dallas around 3:30 and found both Lelia and Kelley kicked back in the West End district, at a local Mexican restaurant. We made the normal and expected "Just seeing you for the first time" conversations when Lelia started closing her eyes. Uh-oh. I have seen that look before...head ache coming on. She took Advil. Lots. We decided to get out and do a bit of shopping, maybe some fresh air. It did help. Yes, we looked at Western Wear, and yes, Kelley was frightened by a rattling noise in an envelope. (rattlesnake eggs, of course) We dreamed a...
