Liz's Letters

Here are a few photos from the past couple of weeks. Some were taken with my iPhone, so they are not the best...but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! Thien was hungry for cajun crawfish soon after she got here. (to Texas). I happen to know the place to take her and she was thrilled! My son, Aaron, and myself...well, we decided to order the stuffed flounder. It was quite tasty as well. The peonies have been in full bloom! This is the last bouquet. :( I REALLY love Sushi. I really love having Thien here because she knows how to make Sushi. Actually, I know how too, but I don't take the time to do it. She does. And she did here! YUMMY! This is one of my favorite places in the whole world...my friend, Shirley's house. I have a group of friends and we get together regularly. I love it when we go to Shirley's house. It is so inviting! But I think it is really Shirley...I love her. She is my mentor and I wish I were more like her. Maybe if I keep hanging o...

April is finally slowing down and it has been a great month. A month of celebration, change, and challenges. A photo a day did not happen, but photos were taken several times a week at the most memorable times. Starting with one below! My friend, Tricia, was baptized (by Marla and myself) on Palm Sunday! Here we are. Don't you know the angels were singing? We went out to eat lunch to celebrate Tricia's baptism. Fred and I parked next to this pick-up truck. It was so funny that we took a picture. Only in Texas! My son, Adam, and his girlfriend Thien, arrived in Texas Saturday before Easter! We are were so excited to have them here for the weekend. I thought as the kids grew into adulthood that the Easter baskets would decrease... but this was our table on Easter morning! More baskets than we have ever had! The Easter Bunny searched high and low for this particular fingernail polish for Rebecca's basket. It is an O.P.I. color - Mad as a Hatter - from the Alice in Wonderl...

Since I am not taking a photo a day these days, I am thinking of changing the name of my photo project! Maybe Project 52? Representing photos of my day to day life - at least every week! ha ha I will think about it. In the meantime, Here is what I was up to last week! When Fred and I moved to Texas, there was a mesquite tree beside our pool. It died the first winter we were here. The following spring, we planted this Redbud tree in it's place. It is my favorite flowering tree, and represents our home state of Oklahoma. This spring it looks really great! For some reason, I always hesitate to plant bulbs. I think it is because we have moved around enough that I fear having to leave behind beautiful, mature, plants! Why? I don't know. Selfish, I guess. But, I did purchase and plant some daffodils this past year. The wind was blowing fiercely as I tried to photograph the first blooms. And these? Well...these are the peonies that I would not, could not leave behind when we moved...

So, another week and I remembered to take photos! Hooray! In fact, I have so many from today, that I will do a separate post for them. :) But, here is what my week looked like - by photograph. I try and buy flowers for my house at least twice a month. This week, I purchased some green roses. Yep, green. I forgot what the florist called them, and in the past, I would have thought they were horribly ugly. Something about them struck me this week and I bought them. Maybe because my kitchen is apple green (as you can see in the background), or maybe because I was not in the mood for contrast...I am not sure, but there they are. They are still alive today and it has been an entire week! Rebecca has been saving her money since January to purchase the new Final Fantasy game for Play Station 3. Too bad she didn't own a PS3. Now she does, thanks to several babysitting jobs, a new real job and a loan from her loving mother. This is her posture the day that she picked up the game...the re...

If you read my post entitled " I Have Not Perished ", you know that my purse was stolen and I have had a couple of weeks that included a good amount of stress! BUT.... there have been some absolutely wonderful things going on too! I managed to get photos of some of them, which makes me happy! Luckily, I have no photos of the broken window that was on my car, no pictures of my new coach purse that was stolen along with all that was in it. All that I have to look at is a file titled, "Theft February 15, 2010" These photographs; however, will remind of the the real things that mattered during the last couple of weeks. Our daughter started her first job this week! She is hostessing at a local Mexican restaurant. This is a picture of she and her co-worker (and long time friend).
