Friday Fill-ins

Whew. The week is over and I am so tired! But it was a fantastic, wonderful, fulfilling, and joyful week. The hospital I am working for is close to being open for our first admits and even though that is very exciting, I have been awake a few nights in the middle of the night since I am the one responsible for getting those patients checked in, with insurance verification... so we can get paid. I love it. But the details swim through my head at the most inappropriate time, like 1:15 a.m. And honestly, I am flat worn out mentally. I have good friends who have kept me encouraged. Thanks to my best, best friends... getting me out in the middle of the day and going to lunch, sending sweet "thinking of you" emails, dinner with my prayer partner/accountability partner that lasted until bedtime, and the most surprising... my new co-workers. Working together for a little over a month now, but we all agree, feels more like a lifetime... and family. New for me to enjoy spending time wi...

Friday Fill-Ins

It's here! It's here! Hip, hip, hooray for Friday! To celebrate, I think I will post a Friday Fill-In. 1. My back is freckled from too much time in the sun . 2. There was a time, in the past, that I would have considered myself to be a little wild. 3. Leaves are falling all around; not really yet here in Texas...but soon! 4. I sometimes think my husband is deaf; maybe it is simply forgetfulness. 5. Healing is wonderful! 6. Work, High School football, and parenting is what I have been up to lately. 7. And as for the weekend, tonight I am looking forward to the big rivalry High School football game, tomorrow my plans include shopping at one of the biggest outdoor flea markets in Canton, TX with some of my very best friends, then going to a band parent event where we will picnic and the parents will march in their student's place, and Sunday I want to attend worship services at The Village Church, plant some fall flowers, then host a fantastic group of women for small gr...

Family Update and Friday Fill-In

Mercy! An entire week has flown by! I had a fantastic time at the Women of Faith conference. As I hoped, my mind was renewed, my spirit refreshed, and friendships deepened. The biggest surprise for me was Marcus Buckingham! What a fantastic speaker with a fantastic message. He was not familiar to me when I looked at the speakers when I bought my ticket, so I looked him up by googling him. (love technology!) I was a little curious after reading about him, still not quite sure why he was invited to Women of Faith. What a delight! Check him out here . I could probably write an entire post about what I learned from what he said. And maybe I will. :) In the meantime, my daughter started school as a Junior in High School! My computer caught a virus and my husband doctored it back to health. We had 107 degree high one day, and 89 degree high the next. I am in my second week back to cycling after surgery and then an injured husband. I cooked dinner every day except one and on t...

Random thoughts and Friday Fill Ins

I can't figure it out. Am I lacking time? Lacking creativity? Or is my life just simply so boring that I cannot think of anything to blog about? Oh, so sad. Dull has not been how I would describe my days as of late, but I don't have much to say about my recent laparoscopic cholesystectomy . My daughter has banned me from blogging about her since the biggest thing happening with her is her love life (that should remain private, by all means). My son, who currently lives in Washington D.C. does have a move date of August 6 th ! He will be moving to Texas! Hooray! Which also means his girlfriend will be moving out. That could be an entire post because I will miss her tremendously. My middle son, who firmly believes he has the curse of the middle child, does have a lot going on, but truthfully, it is fairly boring. He took a transfer with American Eagle Outfitters, who he has worked for since he was 18 years old (he is now 23) so that he could have full time hours for the...

Friday Fill Ins!

Well, it is Friday and I am at home this morning, sipping on a cup of coffee before my pedicure! Nice time to do a fun meme! 1. The Mayan Riviera is my favorite place to travel to. It's not too far from where I live, it is gorgeous and tropical! 2. When I think about my childhood, I often remember how fun it was to play outside with my brother. We could have the most fun with absolutely nothing but a tree, some grass, a sand pile and on really hot days, a water hose. Those were good days! 3. Honesty and commitment makes for a good friend. 4. The wind in the trees, the rain on my skin, and the sun in my eyes...all good things . 5. My son is moving to Texas and it is so exciting! 6. My best friend knows she will always be the best friend I ever had . 7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relaxing at home with my husband - hopefully watching a movie , tomorrow my plans include cycle, shopping and sunning and Sunday, I want to worship at The Village Church...

Here it is, Friday! I never get tired of Fridays! It feels like a party almost every week, even if I do nothing out of the ordinary. In celebration of Friday, I am playing my favorite Friday meme - Friday Fill-Ins! 1. Holding a newborn baby never fails to make me smile. 2. I'm looking forward to SUMMER ! 3. Journey on Pandora is what I'm listening to right now. 4. Potato salad must have pickles in it! 5. Asparagus was the best thing I ate today. 6. Today was casual day at work . 7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to dinner with our best friends , tomorrow my plans include a jog early in the morning, the annual Texas Flute Society Flute Festival with my daughter at UNT, and watching Lovely Bones (the movie) with my daughter, future daughter-in-law, and (maybe) husband , and Sunday, I want to enjoy worship services at The Village Church , spend a little time at home (unless I change my mind and go to a gathering at the small airport where we hanger o...

Friday Fill-Ins!

(click the picture for more Friday Fill-In posts!) I know, I know! I do this almost every week....and for you...it is sort of boring! But for me, it is fun! It challenges my mind (I am simple, what can I say!) to fill in the blanks of these little sentences! Here we go! 1. I'd like to know that all my loved ones know Jesus . 2. One of my most favorite romantic memories is the surprise anniversary that I planned for me and my hubby at Virginia Beach. We had a wonderful dinner out and danced in our hotel room, to Natalie Cole, totally enjoying our time together . And he was SO surprised! (it was one of those events where I left instructions for him to meet me after I was already gone....) 3. Last night, I had Italian Sausage, spinach and pine nuts over fettuccine for dinner. 4. Sorry for the slightly boring blog post . 5. Can we quit worrying about the health care reform now? ( I wish!) 6. One of my worst temptations is over-eating ; really good food is simply ha...

Friday!!!

It is Friday - again! Last weekend went by so quickly! The week was a whirlwind of activity and transition. My son flew back to his home in Northern Virginia but his girlfriend stayed in Texas to start a new job. She is living with our family and it has been a great week. She has been a trouper as she tries to figure out our crazy family's schedule, pet-peeves, and communication style. She has eaten American food every day (she prefers Vietnamese) and not complained once. The bathroom sharing has worked well between she and Lovely Daughter, except the hair clogging up the bathtub. This will hopefully be remedied that that Mr. Husband is aware of it. And I am just thrilled that it is Friday and another weekend upon me! (I need it!) To start things off, I will play my favorite blogging game, Friday Fill Ins! Not sure why I like to do this - but I find it to be a fun and easy challenge! So, here we go.... 1. In 1992, I was in Wichita, Kansas, praying that we would get pregnant with a...
