Summer's End

It has been a wonderful summer. Adam was here for two and a half months, Aaron and his girlfriend, Amy, were around quite a bit, and Rebecca enjoyed being at home too. Fred's classes ended in June, so we got to spend a good deal of family time. Among the favorite things to do was poker. Adam got a poker game for his birthday, and challenged us every time he had the chance. Some of us got pretty good, and some of us hung in there, but we had a blast playing family poker games. Rebecca and I spent hours upon hours at the pool. Countless afternoons were spent on air mattresses, talking about boys, life, family, school, and many other things. It was a wonderful way to develop a deeper relationship with my daughter.

Summer nears it's end now being the middle of August. We have made school clothes purchases, school supplies are waiting for the trip to the locker, band practice begins this week and boxes of college books have arrived in the mail. Routine begins. Bedtimes and alarm clocks and after school snacks will all become part of our daily routine again. It was a great summer!

I Got A Feeling....

that this is gonna be a good, good year!!!!!! I have great expectations! And I don't make New Year's Resolutions, but I do like goals. And prayers. I know God will answer prayers, and there are a few that I look forward to seeing the answer to, hopefully in 2010. Friday Fill Ins

1. I'm PMS-ing , I'm excited , I am feeling out of balance . 2. Why do I have short legs and not tall, thin ones ? 3. How does this surrender stuff really work , anyway? 4. Every morning, I put make-up on my face . 5. I consider myself lucky because I have God in my life . 6. One day we’ll see Jesus face to face! 7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to meeting Lelia and Kelley in person , tomorrow my plans include Step Study Class, shopping with my daughter, worship service , and dinner with friends (and maybe seeing Lelia and Kelley again) and Sunday, I want to work in my yard a little bit! Behind Those Eyes - Chapter 8

We are completely loved and accepted completely. That is the chapter title this week and it is such good news! It is news that I have heard before, but news that I was glad to hear again. Lisa's story at the end of the chapter touched my heart...you know, the one where she woke up the morning after her prayer asking God to let her know that they were okay. The song in her head, that really was in her heart is awesome. I have had those times. Recently, I have had quite a few. The last few months (years maybe?) have been a little difficult. Some days I have wondered, "Does He REALLY love me?" And then some sort of confirmation will come along, He will let me know that we are okay and my heart sings. His love is gentle.
