God of Victory

Last night I was blessed to attend a very special worship service at my church...the celebration of The Village Church's latest CD. God of Victory CD was released yesterday and remarkably was ranked number 22 overall on iTunes...not in the Christian music genre - but overall . This is really cool, but not as cool as the wonderful way that God is glorified in this great blessing and the way that His love is being spread throughout the country, even the world through this CD. What humble talent I witness in the musicians that lead worship where I worship. Some of these songs, you may recognize, some of them, you won't. One is a big hit on the radio right now and our gifted Michael Bleeker's name is credited; along with a well-known singer, song-writer. I giggle, because when I first heard Glorious Day on the radio, my thought was, "Hey...how are they singing a song from The Village Church?" ha ha! We had been singing it in our worship service for some time -...

Multitude Monday, One Thousand Gifts, 11-20

I know that it is Tuesday. But yesterday, which was Monday, I was enjoying a day at the Texas State Fair with my beautiful daughter. During the day, God gifted me many times, which will be a few of my one thousand gifts. 11. My 16 and a half year old daughter will spend the day with her momma at the State Fair – no friends, just mother and daughter. 12. That my aging body is still able to ride rides that spin, twirl and go real fast. 13. The wind in my hair as I hang upside down briefly, while looking at a crowd of observers on the ground below. 14. Hearing my daughter laugh beside me as we fly through the air, in circles. 15. Fletchers Corn Dogs 16. Frozen Lemonade 17. Clip on sunglasses 18. Cell phones, so we didn’t loose each other while I was in line for tickets and she was in ride for a line. 19. Having the opportunity to be way up high, not feel sick, and see things from a different point of view. (wow…how it must look from God’s perspective!) 20. Bubble baths – wh...

It's Thursday and I am Thankful

Evidently, I am not inspired to be creative. Days come and go and this is the conversation that I hear: Love Writing Liz, "I want to post something on my blog." Me, "But what are you going to write about?" Love Writing Liz, "I am not sure, but I know something will is there (in my heart) that is ready to be expressed." Me, "I am not sure about that. The brain seems have taken over for the heart and your words are a little....well, direct- aka dull." Love Writing Liz, "That's okay...write anyway." My mind has been busy. For this I am thankful. For one thing, it means I can think! And it also means I am learning, which is fun and makes me feel just a little more alive. There are a lot of changes happening in my world. Some of them are initiated by me, some of them have been introduced by others but I agreed to, and some of them? Well, some of them are just happening whether I like it or not. One evening, recently, I was with t...

Grace and Gratitude #2 - My Hubby

Words cannot even describe how blessed I am by the sweet man in this picture! (photo taken with our lovely great niece ) I met him when I was 18 years old and I fell quickly in love with him. Our 27 th wedding anniversary is next Friday and even though the road has been rocky at times, I would marry him all over again if I had to choose again. He and I are the epitome of "opposites attract". We could not be any more different. This has challenged us in our marriage, sometimes shaking the very core of who we thought we were. However, God, in His perfect mercy and plan, has used our differences to teach us about unconditional love and commitment . This gentle soul that I married puts up with my wild ways, speaking the truth when I need to hear it, and loving me through some of the most challenging situations that I could have possibly brought to this marriage. The past few years, but even more so the past few months, I have grown increasingly amazed at the blessing God gave...

Grace and Gratitude # 1 - True Friends

There are just certain days that life is so difficult that all I can do is concentrate on what I have to be grateful for. For many years, I found myself here more than not. Some days, I thought, "I am alive." and that was good enough. Recently, though, I have had the opposite problem. Life is so sweet that all I can do is think about how blessed I am, how much God must really love me to give me so much. And even though things are not perfect, there is so much good in my life, that is far outweighs the attitude of my grumpy co-worker, the emotions of having a 15 year old daughter, the fact that I miss my son who lives half a country away, and that I can't seem to get motivated to loose this extra weight that I am carrying around. All these things, although serious disturbances, are mere bumps in the road of a blessed journey. All of my life, I have wished and prayed for real friends, one's who I can count on in good times and bad times. I have loved with all of my hear...
