Prayer update - Matt Chandler

Below is the letter that was sent to the body of believers at the Village Church today.
Prayer and fasting is taking place in my home,
in the church family that we are part of,
and in the lives of thousands of others who know, love, or just know of Matt.
I humbly pass this along for my believing friends and family, asking you to join me in
prayer for Matt's total and swift healing!
Thank you!
God, the Great Physician, is Sovereign!

Update from our elders concerning Matt and his health:

Matt will undergo surgery Friday afternoon

Pastor Matt Chandler will have surgery Friday afternoon to remove a tumor located in the frontal lobe of his brain. The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Barnett.

Dr. Barnett told Matt that he was positive about recovery but won't know the full results until the surgery is performed. The doctor was uncertain about the malignancy of the tumor, and a biopsy will be performed as part of the surgery.

The outpouring of support and prayers from all over the world has been overwhelming to Matt and Lauren. Continue to pray and fast on behalf of the family. The church's monthly prayer service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Highland Village, Denton and Dallas Northway worship centers. We encourage you to fast throughout that day and join us to pray that evening. If you cannot join us, pray wherever you are.

We continue to rest in the knowledge that Matt is in the sovereign hand of our heavenly Father who loves him immensely more than we can comprehend, and He alone understands the reasons for this trial. Along with your prayers, continue to give Matt and Lauren and their family time and space for their continued rest.

This area of prayer for healing has been HUGE in my life...experiencing healing personally, watching the journey of others through physical trials....what I've learned...God is God and I am not...each situation is different...HE IS ABLE TO HEAL IN A FLASH...how I LOVE those moments of God showing up in a signs and wonder way. And then there is the longer journey where He shows up no less.

Praying as He leads...this is not only happening to your beloved Pastor...but it is a journey that God is allowing all of you to walk through...it is an AMAZING privilege to intercede for others.

I'll go read the church statement in the morning...what a journey this is, what amazing personal revelations of God are coming.

Draw close to God and He will draw close to you. James 4:8

Thanks, Pam...for the encouragement and the prayers. We, the Village Church, believe that God answers prayer, and we believe that we can plead with the Lord and He can be persuaded to change the course of things. So, currently, we are praying for total healing...with the knowledge that God is God and has ultimate authority! (meaning, He could say no...and He is still our great God!)
Also, we, the Village Church, know that there is much more involved than Matt's health. I am praying, for myself, that God will reveal the work He wants to do in me through this. Others are as well!
God is in control ans He is good!

I Got A Feeling....

that this is gonna be a good, good year!!!!!! I have great expectations! And I don't make New Year's Resolutions, but I do like goals. And prayers. I know God will answer prayers, and there are a few that I look forward to seeing the answer to, hopefully in 2010. It would be great if love and peace and forgiveness would win out in a few broken relationships. I am still praying. And I am look forward to how my marriage will become more wonderful, as it does every year! My health should improve since I am training for a triathlon. I lost 23 pounds in 2009. I look forward to losing about 15 to 20 more. Completing the Caveman triathlon with a couple of my very good friends is a goal that I am excited to achieve! It is going to be fun to see what God is going to do because I said "yes" to Him and stepped up into Home Group leadership with my church. And my church.... I have to say I am amazed and thrilled to love my church! What a blessing after so many years of being a s...

Gone

A fire burns behind me I run to keep ahead Those who I once cared for becoming cold and dead Red and black the flames grow high Smoke rises in the air The pain of my unworthiness Seems more than I can bear In front of me I see the sun I long to feel it's heat The iciness inside my heart has paralyzed my feet I see the moon, I see the stars They swirl and dance for me I see the hole, the big dark hole Where one star used to be

Behind Those Eyes - Chapter 8

We are completely loved and accepted completely. That is the chapter title this week and it is such good news! It is news that I have heard before, but news that I was glad to hear again. Lisa's story at the end of the chapter touched my heart...you know, the one where she woke up the morning after her prayer asking God to let her know that they were okay. The song in her head, that really was in her heart is awesome. I have had those times. Recently, I have had quite a few. The last few months (years maybe?) have been a little difficult. Some days I have wondered, "Does He REALLY love me?" And then some sort of confirmation will come along, He will let me know that we are okay and my heart sings. His love is gentle. His love is perfect. His love is comforting. And his love is absolutely unconditional. My blog time is shortened this week due the death in my family. My post is short, but honest and heartfelt. This week, I had a couple of conversations with a good...
